What is the difference between a toner and drum?

The toner cartridge and drum unit are two separate consumables that work together to create a print and both are required to run your Brother printer. The toner cartridge contains toner powder, which is transferred to the page via the drum unit. Toner cartridges usually need to be replaced first, while the drum unit typically need to be replaced after the use of 3 or 4 toner cartridges.
