What ink does the HP PhotoSmart 7520 printer use? The PhotoSmart 7520 uses the HP 564 ink cartridge series. The HP 564 series comes in black, photo black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. All HP 564 cartridges come in two yields: standard yield HP 564 (CMYK) cartridges print 250 pages and higher yield HP 564XL (CMYK) cartridges print 550 pages. A standard HP 564 photo black cartridge, however, prints 130 pages and a high yield HP 564XL photo black prints 290 pages.

A Note on HP 564 Installation: The HP 564 cartridge has two black cartridges: black and photo black. These black ink cartridges are NOT interchangeable. If you run out of the photo black, you can not use the (regular) black cartridge in its place.
