Every holiday season the entire LD Products office comes together for LD Gives Back, a company run fundraiser that helps a local family in need over the holidays. This year we are fundraising for Breast Cancer Angels, an amazing non-profit that works to address the basic needs of women currently in treatment for breast cancer. Based in nearby Los Alamitos, they offer many supportive programs for women and their families, including food and housing assistance, clothing, medical costs, home health care expenses and legal guidance. The company helps over 600 families in Southern California each year and 100% of their donations go directly toward those seeking assistance. We are sponsoring a wonderful Long Beach family of 6 children whose mother was diagnosed with breast cancer this past October. Everything we raise will be put towards the Christmas gift wishes of the family and cover any additional holiday expenses they might have. The Long Beach Terrace Theater has also generously donated tickets to an upcoming performance of The Nutcracker to the family.
Fundraising has come about in many different forms and every department has chipped in to help answer the call. The dev team is hosting a candy store all month long, making it very easy for employees to turn their sugar fix into a quick donation. Pancakes, donuts or bagels have graced our break room every week in November thanks to the call center’s Breakfast Monday’s fundraiser. Our human resources team reached out to a few local restaurants who have offered to donate a percentage of their profits to the cause. And one of our executives has offered up their prime parking spot for a month in support of the V.I.P. parking raffle. Employees can also show their support by donating to one of the LD donation droplets that are proudly on display in the breakroom or toss any spare change in our Keep the Change jar. Fundraising continues next month with our company-wide poker night and ping pong tournament!
LD Gives Back has truly been a team effort. It’s a great way to bring the entire company together for an amazing cause and we are all incredibly thankful for the opportunity to help make this family’s holiday a little brighter.
