Many consumers are worried if the use of compatible or aftermarket printing supplies will void their printer's warranty. The answer is no.
More simply put, this means that your printer warranty cannot be voided just because you choose to use compatible products unless the manufacturer can prove that the compatible product caused direct damage to your printer. In cases such as this, the manufacturer may choose not to repair your printer but your warranty would remain in effect for all other warranty issues.

What toner does HP M402dn use?
The HP LaserJet Pro M402dn printer uses HP 26A or HP 26X black toner cartridges. The HP LaserJet M402dn is a monochrome printer so it only needs a black toner cartridge to print.HP 26A vs HP 26X: What's the difference?
The HP 26A is a standard yield toner cartridge which prints only 3,100 pages while the HP 26X is a high yield toner cartridge which prints 9,000 pages--significantly more than a standard yield cartridge. Compatible HP 26A and HP 26X toner cartridges deliver the same amount of pages as the OEM version. How do I change the toner in my HP M402dn?
1. To access the toner cartridge in your printer, press the release button the right side of your printer then pull the top front part of your printer towards you.2. Pull out the empty toner by the handle in the middle of the cartridge.
3. Remove packaging from new toner replacement. Before inserting into printer, rock the toner cartridge gently back and forth and side to side.
4. Hold the new toner cartridge by the middle handle and slide it into the printer. Make sure the white markers line up on the left side of the toner slot. Slide it in all the way until it clicks into place.
5. Close the printer door.
6. If you just installed compatible, non-HP toner replacements, be sure to turn off automatic printer updates to prevent any interruptions in printer use. Most automatic updates are unnecessary and you can just pick and choose the ones you think are important later on.
