What's the difference between the Epson 252 and 252XL?

The main difference between a 252 and 252XL is that the 252XL is a high yield cartridge that contains more ink than a standard 252 cartridge.

Black: The Epson 252 black is a standard ink cartridge that prints 350 pages. The Epson 252XL black is its high yield counterpart that prints 1,100 pages.

A high yield cartridge usually is the same size as the standard but just contains more ink. High yield cartridges install and fit in the same slot as the standard cartridge.

Color: There is a high yield cartridge for all Epson 252 color cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow) as well. Each standard Epson 252 color cartridge prints 300 pages. Each high yield Epson 252XL color cartridge prints 1,100 pages.

How long does Epson 252 last?

How long each Epson 252 cartridge lasts will depend on what you print and how often you print. For example, you can expect to run out of ink sooner if you print pages of colored images everyday than if you printed black and white documents only twice a week.

An Epson 252XL ink cartridge will last much longer than a standard ink cartridge. Be careful not to let your printer sit idle for too long though especially if you have high yield ink cartridges in it. Inkjet printers--specially the ink in it--tend to dry up when left unused for extended periods of time. For this reason, if you're an infrequent printer user, high yield cartridges are not advisable.
